With her wedding day approaching, get to know a little more about “the best worst dancer you’ll ever meet,” Morgan Hatala.

What made you want to become a hairstylist?

I’ve wanted to be a hairstylist as long as I can remember. My mom is a hair stylist so growing up in the salon seeing my mom at work really pushed me toward this career.

What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned working in the hair industry?

You need to surround yourself with people that support you in every way. Surround yourself with co workers that cheer you on and help you whenever you need. We definitely have a good group that would do anything for each other at work.

What’s a trend you’re loving?

I’m always going to be a fan of the lived in trend. It’s so customizable for each guest there’s never two that are the same. Not to mention you get longer in between scheduled appointments and who wouldn’t want that? I never ever ever want to see a chunky highlight again in my life.

How did you meet your fiancé?

Collin and I actually went to middle school and high school together but never spoke a word to each other. We met at a party. He walked by and I told some random girl he was cute. She told him and the rest is history. He proposed last February in Florida on the beach just us two. It was absolutely perfect. We got to finish out our vacation as a newly engaged couple and really enjoyed the time together.

What motivates you?

I absolutely have been in love with the industry from day one. I’m inspired to break all the typical stereotypes of hairstylists by setting both personal and financial goals and crushing them.

Advice for pursing a cosmetology career:

The most important piece of advice I would give to a new stylist in the industry is to not get down on yourself. If someone comes to you not loving their hair, it doesn’t mean that it’s not good it’s just not for them. You can’t please everyone and everyones style is different. Don’t get down on yourself, fix what you can and keep it moving.

What’s something you can’t live without?

Other than my family because that’s a given…. I’d say coffee. I’m actually probably addicted and think about it everyday until I have it in my life.

“If I wasn’t a hairstylist I would be a realtor. I love looking at houses and I think helping other people find their dream home would be so cool.”
