Bridesmaid Hair Do’s and Dont’s

We know getting your hair done for a formal occasion can be nerve wracking. We also suspect that you have spent time googling pictures for hair inspiration. Our goal is to bring your vision to life while making the process feel easy and fun!

Our many years of styling have given us some insight on how to make this day successful.

Below you can read all of our tips in a list of “do’s/dont’s” for getting your hair styled.

Do: Blow Dry The Night Before

Having a good base is key for any formal styling. You know your hair best: if you tend to frizz/have flyaways without a smoothing blow dry, put that extra effort in the night before.

Do: Come With Inspiration

If you don’t have pictures of what you want, be prepared to answer a few questions so we get a good idea of what you are looking for.

Do: Factor In The Weather

When choosing a style, take into consideration what the weather will be that day and how your hair holds a style. If it’s a windy day and your hair doesn’t hold a curl you aren’t setting your hair up for success.

Do: Wash Your Hair

We’ve always been taught hair styles better when it is dirty, but your stylist has products that will give it the same effect. If your hair is too dirty it won’t hold a curl or we won’t be able to get any volume in it. Wash your hair no longer than 24 hours in advance.

Don’t: Come With Your Hair Wet

Blow drying everyone’s hair before styling can affect the morning timeline. We need enough time get everyone picture perfect without having a brutal AM start time.

Don’t: Bring Extensions Fresh Out of the Bag

We are happy to work with extensions but it’s important to make sure you come prepared. Extensions come fresh out of the pack straightened with a coating on them. They need to be washed and blown dry a few times before they start to feel like your own hair. If they are straight out of the package they will not hold a curl and will fall straight hours before your natural hair. Have them prepped ahead of time so that your stylist can work with them to seamlessly blend into your hair.

Do: Be Cheerful For The Bride

We know it’s an early start. But our job is to make sure everyone is happy with their styles and get you where you need to be on time. Try to keep the morning happy & stress free for the bride. A great playlist goes a long way!
