revive guide: keratin treatment

Summer isn’t the only season upon us…say hello to frizz season!

Nothing gives you big, untamed hair like heat and humidity. Don’t you wish there was a magical treatment to make air-dried, no shower happy hour hair look better?

Let me give you the rundown on keratin.

First of all, what is it?

A long lasting hair repair technique that smoothes and strengthens your hair. This is NOT a straightening treatment.

What’s the process?

A shampoo filled with superfood hair proteins is worked through roots to ends, blown dry, shampoo repeated and then flat ironed through your hair.

How does it work?

Keratin is a building block of hair. Because it’s the same protein found in your hair, it’s one of the most beneficial and restorative hair care ingredients. This treatment will eliminate frizz, increase smoothness, repair bonds, and enhance managebility. It should become part of your regular maintenance routine, like getting a facial or an oil change.

Who should get it?

Everyone, but it’s especially beneficial for anyone with frizzy, unruly hair. A keratin treatment is how you make air-dried hair look more tamed. This process will also cut down your blow dry time.

How long does it take?

It’s different for everyone’s hair. Average time is 1.5 hours. Some people only get their bangs or front pieces treated which cuts down on the processing time.

How long does it last? Is there maintenance?

3-4 months. Different factors will affect this such as coloring your hair with bleach, swimming, sun, etc. All hair products you use after the treatment MUST be sulfate free. The entire r+co line we carry at revive is safe to use 😉.

CLIFF NOTES: keratin is a strengthening treating!

UPDATE -

Update: June 2022 I had my first keratin treatment, it has been the biggest game changer. Postpartum I’ve struggled with breakage, dullness, hair loss, texture changes and so much more. I was absolutely shocked after the treatment. It was like magic…my hair was so smooth, shiny and even seemed longer. I’ll admit I was nervous to wash it for the first time but the magic didn’t go away. My favorite part is how much I love the look of my air-dried hair. I rarely use my blow dryer. I get them as maintenance 2-3x per year, keratin has forever revived my hair.
